    Ouachita

Man it's slow around here. Just thought I would put something up here to read. There have been some good catches lately on Ouachita while night fishing. They are hitting big 10"-12" worms in red shad, plum/red flake, and candy bug. Fish are holding in about 15' to 20' foot and are tight to the moss.

    Re: Ouachita (Bass Junkie)

Decided to fish the weekly Tue night Ranger tourney on Bull Shoals Lake this past weekend. Went out Sunday night to find some fish and caught maybe 13 or 14 from 7Pm to 11PM including 9 keepers. Best five would have weighed around 14#. So I signed me and my partner up for the tourney Monday morning.

Fished the tourney last night and we caught two keepers. Two of my evening holes were dry. Two of my night holes had boats on them. Only one point produced fish and they were caught between 10:30 PM and 10:45 PM before we had to leave for the weigh-in. 1st place was 13#, 8 oz.

It's always amazed me how things can change from one day to the next with these darn bass

    Jim,

    I feel your pain...........

The big tourneys around here are usually on the Arkansas River. I think the Corps of Engineers really likes to mess with the fishermen. Seems like they suck the bottom out of the pool the night before a T. Oh, well.............

    Dang Corps of Engineers!

I feel Jim's pain too, seems like anytime I prefish for a tourny and I find good fish I can just kiss it goodbye come tourny day.

I fished Brewer earlier last week with a buddy of mine and we were on some really good fish in the brush piles, we easily had 14-15lbs with our 5 biggest and probably caught 20-25 fish in just a couple of hours. So I decided I was going to be a good son on Sunday and took my mother (she loves fishing soft plastics) out there hoping to get in on some more of those fish, the bite had turned off and I think we only caught 4

    Re: Ouachita (Bass Junkie)

Anyone been out on Ouachita during the day lately? Doing any good? Anywhere else doing OK during the day? Arkansas River?

Think I need to take a fishing trip somewhere. Fish don't bite well during the day on BS lake in the heat of summer and I really don't like night fishing although I do it. Last time out (last week) I had to thoroughly clean the carpet and wash and BBS the entire boat the next day. Stunk of fish, had fish slime and blood on the carpet and gunnels, bug debris everywhere. You do pay a price for night fishing in terms of getting the boat all nastied up.

Of course, we caught some nice fish, so I guess it's worth the effort . . . . .

    Re: Ouachita (BrownTrout)

I took my dad out there last Sunday. We hit the water right after daylight and stayed until about 1:00 pm. It was real cloudy so it wasn't real hot. We caught 8 fish on Lucky Craft Sammys and an 11" watermelon/candy worm. Biggest was 3lbs but I lost one other one that would have been the biggest of the day. Hope this helps ya oh and BTW a 1oz white/chart spinnerbait slowed rolled deep in the moss is always worth a try too.

Jim, I feel your pain. I hate getting the bug guts out from under the boat that you get from running at night; Better luck in the next night tx. Roger
