Real or imagined?
My kids doubling up on bass/sandbass using lipless crankbaits. It was a scary but fun sight with treble hooks and fish flying everywhere for 30 solid minutes. Never forget it.
I was fishing an offshore brush pile and caught a pretty good sized bass. About 75 yards away were two guys fishing the reeds along the bank. As I played that fish to the boat the guys fishing the bank must have saw me bringing it into the boat. No sooner than the amount of time that passed as I released the fish they put the trolling motor on high and came over to me and started fishing. I couldn’t believe it but didn’t say anything simply because there was two against one and at 77 years old I find it easier not to engage with *******s.
Another incident that happened has a good ending. I was fishing and caught a 9.75 bass. I had no camera or phone with me. I put the bass into the livewell and found a total stranger fishing not to far away. I slowly idled up to him and asked if he had a smart phone to take a picture for me. He was very nice and agreed. I removed the fish from the livewell and he took the picture. I then released the fish and asked it he could text the picture to my phone and gave him my number. He agreed and I thanked him. When I got home and picked up my phone I saw a text and when I opened it I found the picture of me holding the bass. He was a good guy for sure.
Didn't see any naked people but did see
one of most amazing things I've ever seen in the outdoors. Very early morning before the sun got up but you could still see very good a bald eagle and osprey were fighting over a pretty good size bass the osprey had in his talons. It was something to witness and couldn't believe how the eagle seemed to mimic the osprey's moves while it was trying to keep it away from him. This went on for several minutes and then out of nowhere another bald eagle flew in and started attacking the other eagle. The osprey used this commotion to escape with his breakfast as the eagles kept slamming into each other, we could hear the thuds and flapping of their wings as they carried on. They finally locked up and started spiraling towards the water but separated just before they hit then both took off over the dam. Didn't even think to video it but will never forget it.
Was fishing a creek in eastern NC last weekend. I could hear dogs tracking deer in the swamp around me. In the back of the creek I looked over at the bank and saw a deer laying in a ball, halfway in the water. I fished past the deer about 100 ft when a hound sporting his radio transmitter appeared on the creek bank. He had been tracking that deer but when he saw me he just stopped and stared at me. He then turned around and disappeared into the swamp. I soon turned around to fish my way out and the deer was gone. I never heard the deer make a sound.

Spotty loves to swim in our pond, and when not doing this he fishes. He will stand there like a heron and try to catch fish. This year he got 2 small bream.
A atv hanging upside down by its tires in the water, it went through the ice.
I watched a bald eagle catch a rabbit and then sit on a high branch of a tree crunching away.
I must not be fishing in the right places.
Last week i had a squirrel in the middle of the lake climb up on my trolling motor and hang out while I took him to the bank.20241111_083122.jpg20241111_083122.jpg
I did'nt see anything crazy in 2024. About the only thing I can recall is someone running up on a flat that has several stumps and shutting down. They realized what happened pretty quickly and only ran about 30 yards onto the flat but there was stumps very close to where they shut down. If I had to guess the water was 2 ft of less where they shut down at. I remember the guy in the back of the boat stood up and poked his rod over the side and pointed to the driver to show him how shallow it was.
Got on a little pattern in a tournament of the trail I fish and found some Fish holding along the first break line in some coves. It was 3rd week of February and it was fairly windy. The fish were in 3-4'. I made a cast with a Texas rig creature and got bit. Set the hook and missed the fish.
I fished on down the break line with no more bites. Rolled back over that exact spot and had the same bite on the same cast. Also had same result. I did this 2 more times off that precise cast. I figured it was a crappie or something and left the area.
Came back an hour later and exact same scenario repeated itself two more times. Finally on the 3rd attempt this go round I stuck her. Ended up being a 4lber but unfortunately it jumped off. It would have called and gave me a shot at a win. Instead I finished 3rd. Still got a good check but that fish cost me.
That fishhad to have been on a bed. When I say I had to make that exact cast to get but I mean it had to be to a spot about 1'x1' wide.i doubt it was different fish as there was not anything to hold a number of fish in that little spot.
I was crappie fishing this past spring. I was throwing at fish on the ffs screen and I see a big fish come out of nowhere about 10-15 ft. deep and it's going fast straight to the top. I thought, I'm going to see this fish jump out of the water. It came up and BAM, out of the water, and to my surprise it wasn't a fish, it was cormorant. I hate those things.
Was fishing back in a small cove once. Saw a small Bass about 12 inches jump like something was after him. A second later an otter came out of the water going really fast in the same direction as that Bass was going. Went on back in the cove and there sat the otter on the bank chewing on that Bass. Yep he caught him.
Nothing unusual in 24 on the water but if you know me you would think that is unusual in itself.
I was trolling with my gas motor ( tiller ) and for some reason I looked down into the water just as a massive large Pike came up beside the motor with its mouth wide open. It closed its mouth and banged its head on the back of the boat as it slowly went back down into the water. I was literally looking down its mouth! Not sure what it tried to grab or why it was sooo close to the running motor and boat?

This year the craziest thing had to be when I knocked my half-full bottle of Powerade off of the bridge at The Grumpy Old Man Hole on a night that the place was crowded, hence me fishing off of the bridge. The bottle went out into the darkness, but eventually came back as it got caught in the SW Eddy that forms if conditions are right. Guys who were fishing down on the SW side were able to net the bottle as it floated by so I got my Powerade back. Also this year at The Grumpy Old Man Hole there were shenanigans involving broken lines and lighted bobbers with fish in tow. We got 1 of 3 rigs back. And at Eddy's Jetty on Mille Lacs Lake I got to witness some pretty spectacular Northern Lights one time in the May and one time in October.
