can't speak on the other two, but i absolutely love my dobyns that i've got this past year or two. Switched all my Loomis over to Dobyns. Can't say enough good things about them.

I think I'm leaning towards trying a Dobyns. Probably savvy, but the coalitions have caught my eye as well. Looking to spend between 120-180.

What tech are you looking to do and or baits you will be throwing on the rod?

Champ 734 for general purpose casting techniques. Champ 736 for flipping/frog work.

I have a range of Dobyns Savvy. Just got my first micro guide Savvy (702SF)...and WOW it feels amazing. If they bring the micro guides to the Champion and Champion Extreme rods they are going to be off the HOOOK

I have a custom built on a Recon 713 blank for a finesse setup with a 51E and it is awesome!

It looks like I'm the odd man out. I fish Falcons. The others are great as well but I like Falcon.

    Re: Powell v Falcon v Dobyns (Bassin'Hokie5)

In short, I would rank them Dobyns, Falcon Powell. Not sure which models you are wanting to compare.

The Falcon Cara has made improvements in components and aesthetics in recent years, but blank composition has not changed much to my knowledge (only supplier.) In my opinion, they have priced themselves out of competition (this is coming from a guy who has been a big Falcon fan as well.) In the $150-$170 range, the Cara was hard to compete with but at $200+ not so much.

For example, the Amistad retails for around $220 I believe. It is a good rod, but does not match up well against the 735C in the Champion line to me for the same money. The Falcon Amistad does compare favorable to the Dobyns 735 Savvy to me though. Alconite guides, fast action similar lure rating, sensitivity is comparable but the Amistad is priced quite a bit higher.

The Powell Max/Endurance (I believe same blank different aesthetics) do not match up well against the Dobyns or the Falcon Cara in terms of sensitivity to me. In my opinion, the Powell would be ranked closer to a Falcon Bucoo or Lowrider. I haven't fished a Powell or a Lowrider since 2007 and 2008 but don't think they have made any changes in blank. They were very similar to me in terms of sensitivity but I would give Powell the edge over the Lowrider in terms of aesthetics. I played with an endurance rod in store a while back and several of the glass cranking rods. There a lot of folks that make a lighter glass cranking rod than the Powell ones I handled. The endurance cranking rods seemed to have a 1oz weight or more in the butt section...I think that is useless on a cranking rod that is used tip down, but that is just my opinion.

Powell rods are phenominal and may be the best bang for your buck. I have a few of them and Dobyns Champs.
    Question everything!

Dobyns. I have used all 3 at some time in the last few years. 734 best all around rod in that price ranger
