    Sodus Bay Coast Guard Launch

The water on Sodus is starting to get very low like it does this time of year. Have any of you used the launch in the beach park next to the Coast Guard station when the water is very low in fall (through end of October)? I am just wondering if there are any issues with the trailer wheels falling off the end of the ramp, or if it extends back far enough to not be a problem for launching a bass boat. Thanks.

It's always a bit iffy this time of year. The good is, you can clearly see the end of the ramp, so you can either mark it somehow, or have some one watching. The bad is, if it doesn't work out, you'll probably need a step ladder, a big one to use the town launch. That launch dock is the biggest excuse for a proper dock ever created. I love Sodus but HATE that ridiculous town launch. I think next year even during higher water times, I'm going to keep a three step ladder in the boat to be able to get in and out from the dock safely.

Thanks for the info. I hate that town launch also. I usually launch at the Bay Bridge which has a decent launch, but the water is starting to get low there too and will probably get worse later in the fall.

I launched at Bay Bridge this weekend, pulling out was rough. I did get it. I had to cheat to the side of the ramp farthest from the road. Anything other than that 1 tire fell off and the trailer was out of level too much.

Such a shame, a fabulous body of water with the crappiest public access.
