    Question for the Dobyns fans

Seriously considering buying a Dobyns Savvy 692 spinning rod with the intent of using it for Jr size flukes, 4 inch finesse worms, and other light tackle finesse situations.

My question is how would this compare to a 3 power rod? How much lighter is the action? I have a Powell 683 spinning and I would like for this new rod to be a lighter action than that. I don't have a Dobyns dealer anywhere close to feel the rod before buying.

Also for those that have both how does the Savvy series compare to the Powell Max series rods overall?

    TIA

I got my father a 703 savvy for Christmas and its a fairly stout rod. A little more rod than needed for really light stuff. He use's his an an all around rod though. I'd say the 692 is probably a better finesse rod for stuff under 3/16 oz.

Re: Question for the Dobyns fans (Frenzy)

i dont have any savvy spinning rods, but i can say that the 2 power should be good for the lures you have listed. I have a 2 power dx, and a 3 power champ and i think the 692 would be good for lures up to 1/4 but best for lures in the 1/16- 3/16 range.

IMO dobyns blows away powell, balance, components, customer service, warranty all a step up

Sportsmans Warehouse in Lexington is a Dobyns dealer, not too far away.

The 2 power would be more along the lines of finesse. I have/use use the 3 power for shakey heads and light jigs.

hard to say, I own 11 Champions, but all baitcasting.

I do own a 2 power, a 702C & several 3 powers (3 703's and a 733) and there is some difference, but the spinning may be even more of a difference.
Like the 702 Extreme vs the 702 Champion baitcast models, there is a big difference in those 2 models. The DX702 Extreme s noticably lighter in action/power than the Champion 702C.

Thanks. I am going to go ahead and order it along with a nice Shimano spinning reel.

I have 3 Powell rods and really like them so if Dobyns is really a class above those I will for sure be buying more.
