General Color Coding (ABYC) for Low-Voltage in Boats
- RED: Primary POSITIVE “+” Power from Battery (may include non-fused sources)
- BLACK (Sometimes Yellow): LOW VOLTAGE (12V) Ground
- YELLOW with Red Stripe: Starter Activation (or solenoid activation) Circuit
- BROWN: Used for Bildge or other Pump. (Some larger boats use for Generator regulator circuit)
- BROWN with Yellow Stripe: Bildge Blower Circuit switched power
- DARK BLUE: Dash Lighting Power.
- LIGHT BLUE: Oil Pressure Sensor.
- TAN: Engine Water Temperature (Note: Optimax this wire does NOT read engine temp)
- ORANGE: Accessory Wiring, various Distribution Circuits
- PURPLE: Key (Ignition) Switched 12V Power (example: PCM Wake or Ignition-Powered 12V Circuit)
- PINK: Fuel Sender
- GRAY: Tachometer Reference Wire.
- GREEN or GREEN with Yellow Stripe: Bonding (Ground) wires (Example: Fuel tank or Fuel Fill bonding ground)
