    2019 Ranger Trail Tail Light

Had some water getting into one of my tail lights on my 2019 single axle ranger trail trailer. Found the company Optronics who makes the lights. They have great customer service and said that they offer a lifetime warranty on most of their LED lights. Contacted them via their website and they got back to me right away and I have a new tail light on the way.

My question is, how do I remove the tail light? Does it pop out or is it held in there with any screws or clips?

What is the light part number? I was looking on their website and could not locate the light?

I also have a 2019 Z519 trailer. My left side light had water intrusion as well. A coincidence? The part number is STL231RPG. Optronics, the manufacturer, was awesome. A replacement light was sent without issue. Yes, a lifetime warranty but keep reading.

The light is held by two bolts and nuts under the trailer. Disconnect the leads and it’s easy to remove. Plugging back in, I used dielectric grease on each plug fitting.

In wondering where the defect was, I turned the light upside down to see where the water would leak back out. Figured that would show me where the intrusion point was. Sure enough, I was able to get a small drop of water to fall from the seam on the edge. Inspecting further, I could see a small indentation in the seam in that spot. Here is the kicker. In the replacement light I received, I see the same small indentation. Maybe it’s the spot where the ultrasonic welding (or whatever process they use) ends its route…I don’t know but I don’t like seeing it again. I had some silicone caulk that I used to place a bead around the perimeter of the plastic housing seam as a preventative measure. I also noticed and siliconed the large gap around the wire sleeve that leaves the plastic housing.

I’m not sure how long they will continue making this light so I figured I would take measures to reduce the chance of the intrusion happening again. Lifetime warranty is only good if they still manufacture it or have it in stock.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'll look to see if I can find that same spot on mine where the water came in. Thankfully the manufacturer stands behind their warranty and sent out a replacement completely free of cost.

Both defects I found on my lights were at the seam that goes straight up and down. Not the angled one (not the hypotenuse side as its kind of a triangle shape). The location is about 3/4th of the way up. There is a very light plastic lip/edge that ends in the molding. If you see an indent in the seam, that’s where my intrusion occurs. Look at where the wire meets the plastic housing as well.

And yes, Optronics was awesome in standing by their product.

I have this same issue on my 2019, but the left hand side. I'll be contacting Optronics tomorrow and seeing what they offer. Thanks for posting this.

FYI...my part number for the passenger side (LH) is also STL231RPG. They must have a sub part for L/R.

I have the 4" Round lights on my 2014 RangerTrail and after having lights fail or only partially lite, I've solved the problem with a light coat of silicone around the seam and a good bit around each wire also. And yes, the use of some Dielectric Grease is good idea, plus I use Marine Heat Shrink connectors. That's awesome that Optronics stepped up for you !!

Glad I saw this. Had the left rear light go out on 2021 trailer, and luckily read this thread before I ordered one. New light coming my way, hassle free. Thanks guys!
