I prefer a shorter rod like a 6'6 in Med or MH with a faster action for my jerk baits i think it allows a little more control then a softer tip stick and i might loose a few fish with the stiffer rods but i believe i get bit more so i choose the get bit more option lol my main jerk bait setup for like LC pointer 78s would be my Evergreen Black Racer, Daiwa PX68R, 13# Sunline Shooter Defier. for bigger Jerk baits mainly Megabass Vision 110s I use a Evergreen Black Raven, Daiwa Ringa SSS, 15# Sunline Shooter Defier.

My passions are My kids, JDM Daiwa, Megabass and Evergreen Rods N Reels, building and shooting Highly accurate Target Rilfes and Tourney Bass Fishing. I also Super Tune Daiwa, Shimano and ABU reels. I run a 2010 Nitro Z-9DC/250 Pro XS, Worked Fury, Power head built by Simon Motorsports shes a rock solid 88-92MPH tourney rig.

I use a centauri knot on Flouro or mono. Takes a little longer to learn but stronger than most knots including the palomar. DON'T use it on Braid however.

I'm suprisrd no one listed any spinning equiptment,I do favor the casting gear in the cold water but in the summer I can work a bait much faster with spinning.

    Re: (spanick)

I agree, Ill use a 7M spinning rod in the spring and summer and a 6'8M casting in the later fall and winter.

What about the knot? I usually use a palomar but I want to try a loop knot. Only thing is does the jerking imparted make a sharp crease in the fluorocarbon? And therefore making it weak and susceptible to breakage?

Loomis MBR 782C IMX with Curado 100D 15lb Trilene 100% floro.
Put some of those Lucky Craft trebles on whatever jerkbait/topwater you're using, and you'll have to try hard to loose a fish!!
