Cleaning hook eyes after pouring and painting jig

    Guys,
I have been pouring my own jigs for about a year but I am still having trouble with the hook eye having to much paint were you can barely get line through it. I am using powder paint in a fluid bed but still no luck. Today, I am heating up a paper clip and cleaning out the eye before I bake them. This works but it does not look very good. Does anyone else have this problem and how do I fix it?
    Thanks

I use a #11 xacto blade after paint is good and dry, but BEFORE baking! Quick little twist inside eye and paint pops right out! then a little light scrape on outside of eye and its like it had never been painted. flawless. But be careful, those little blades can get ya!

Does it leave any type of burr? From your post, it sounds like it does not. It has to be faster than what I am doing now.

i dip my jigs into the fluid bed by holding the eye with some needle nose pliers. keeps it pretty clean for the most part. If there is any in there, normally i can take an eye buster and clean it out. Just make sure you clean them up before baking them

I just use an eye buster after I dip them. I will paint up 50 or so and then just go back through with the eyebuster. It's actually fairly quick.

Heat the jig head and then hold it with a pair of forcebs when dipping it in the fluid bed. Works great for me and I do not have to clean anything out of the eye.

I cover the hook eye with masking tape before I power coat them. It is a pain in the butt but I like the results. For the small amount I make it works.

I tried heating up a paper clip yesterday with my heat gun and putting it through the eye. Worked very well.

I opened the end of a small alligator clip, just enough for the hook eye. I heat the jgihead and try to dip it into the fluid bed just to the clip. Makes it a one-step process.

I dip the jig into the bed then immediately use a paperclip. It leaves no burrs and easy in my process. This is if there is any paint in the eye.
