you have to make sure the mold is heated up before pouring. with a cold mold the lead is cooling before it gets to fully fill the bottom part of the mold(collar and barb). Different things you can do, you can leave the mold always resting on the hot pot when not in use. What I do to be sure though is right before I pour I use a small propane torch and after interting the hook, I will hold the mold to the torch and heat the inside of the mold and hook through the pour hole.![]()

Candle Soot will fix the problem. Just light a candle then hold the mold over the flame until black soot gets in both sides of the cavity. May need to reapply after you pour 6 jigs or so. Also warm the mold up like the other guy said. I just lay my mold on my melting pot.

Forget about smoking your mold and get what works.

What kind of lead pot are you using?
Paul
Torching works well for me. After that I will pour a couple heads without hooks and let those sit for a couple minutes. That tends to help get the mold heated up too

Candle solved all my problems.
Make sure your lead is hot as well as the mold. Unlike bullet casting it's hard to run your lead too hot when casting jigs & sinkers.
