Anyone use a heat gun to "cure" their powder painted jigs?

If you are just doing a handful does anyone just put them back over the heat gun to hraden instead of baking? Just curious to see if it is possible or reccomended. Thanks

I have always baked mine believing in the slow cure method being a more durable finish. I have used a heat gun to heat them up to paint...but not to 'cure'....just my .02

I have done it exactly that way. Be careful a heat gun can get hot enough to melt the lead and have it drop into the gun, don't ask how I know this.........

I tried just the heat gun and the paint chipped way to easy. I always bake now and the paint is much more durable.

Thanks. Kinda figured it was best to just bake 'em.

+1! I did a big batch with a heat gun because I didn't have an oven. They chip pretty easy. I, too, found out the hard way the baking them is best.

I use a heat gun all the time best way to go . Keep an alcohol burner around for emergencies though . If you watch Harbor Freight you can get one on sale for around ten bucks when they have sales.

I use a heat gun to heat the jigs before dipping but in my very unscientific findings I found over cured jigheads to be a LOT more chip resistant than the ones I cured with the heatgun. That is just what I found recently anyway and I am by no stretch a pro at this.
