    Guide spacing?

Anyone have a link to a video showing how to space guides? I have the Flex Coat video which just says to find a similar length rod or use the spacing charts. Everything I read says not to do either so how do I find the placement?

put a reel and a tip on the blank. run your guides down the line and then through the tip.

tape guides on from the butt of the rod up. space them so that the line follows the curvature of the blank when you put a load on the line. on fast action blanks they will be closer towards the tip, on moderate to slow action you will find more even spacing and more guides from the midway point on.

figure you need about 1 guide per foot of rod +1 or 2 depending on action. I usually start with my butt guide 18-20" from the reel seat.
