    Rainshadow (Batson) warranty

Any of the custom builders here dealt with Batson for warranty issues? I had a Rainshadow blank built up last year and it snapped between the second and third guide from the top on me today. According to their website they have a limited lifetime warranty. Anyone dealt with them and if so how were they to work with. I assume it will have to go through the guy that actually built the rod for me, just looking for a lil info.

they are good to deal with, but don't hold your breath on a full replacement. i've had a few rods break within the first 6 months and they claimed it was due to misuse or damage - not my rods so very well may have been the case. Each blank was replaced for roughly 30-40% msrp value so can't complain.

I have called and talked to Bob Batson before on a warranty claim. Well, it was actually an accident claim as my customer slammed the lid on it. I was honest about it and he was really good to deal with. He told me just cut a piece off and send to them in the mail and pay a low "no questions asked" replacement fee and they would send one out to me. As stated, the cost was abotu 30% of MSRP. It was a RX8 blank. Hope this helps. Just call and talk to them. the hard part is stripping the components off and have someone rebuild it.

Got a message from my rod builder, he heard back from Batson, they said they couldnt find any defects in the blank but since it was the first time out fishing with it, they were going to go ahead and replace the blank free of charge. That is some good service right there.

I've had pleasant interactions with everyone at Batson, Billy included. A good, honest group of guys (and gals) there!
The best revenge is to have enough self-worth not to seek it.
