    Mercmonitor Install Question

I received my Mercmonitor and wiring from European Marine (Great Company, Thanks Don) and am trying to install today. I have the fuel/paddle harness. Am I correct that only the pink/black wire is attached to the fuel sender? Does the other end with harness connectors connect to the engine? I "only" have a 175ProXS and can't find where they connect. Thank you and will update on my progress.

Correct. Remove the existing Pink wire from the sender and isolate it. Connect ONLY the Pink/Black wire to the sender (leave any other existing wires intact).

Engine end connection of this harness is a "six pin plug"... that should be within about 6" of the "Pitot/Speed Sensor". If you cannot locate this plug, post or email a picture of the back and right side of your engine- will return the picture with some "pointers".

    Re: Mercmonitor Install Question (EuropeanAM)

Thank you. I found a six pin connector that appears to be in the same bundle as the digital trim wires. It has the same female connector as the fuel/paddle harness, they don't connect. I keep looking.

    Re: Mercmonitor Install Question (OPD66)

That would be the correct plug!

If both connectors are the same gender, you may have a "mismatched" harness connection.

Contact me Monday (have your serial number handy).... and I'll try to get you straightened out.

Is your Fuel Oil Paddle harness a "T2" or a "T03" harness?

Thank you for the adapter harness. Everything hooked up and operating smoothly. Everyone should install a Mercmonitor and do business Don. Great company, fair prices and exceptional customer service. Thanks again.

    Re: Mercmonitor Install Question (OPD66)

One last question. Can I leave the original fuel gauge wire attached to the sender and attach the Mercmonitor harness also? That would allow my original fuel gauge to continue working along with the Mercmonitor. Thanks

NO. You MUST disconnect.... let me repeat that..... YOU MUST DISCONNECT the original pink sender wire from the tank sender, eliminating the "analog" gauge function.

Failure to do so can result in improper readings, as well as a 12V "backfeed" throught the PCM's 5V circuit (which can actually damage the PCM).

If you would like, se can set you up with a "System Link" fuel gauge to replace the analog gauge with. You're already wired for it.... simple "plug and play".
