Well I hate to ask but have nowhere else to go....I have a 203 Dusky with a 225 Ficht. Any thoughts as to props for this set up? Also, 3, 4, or 5 Blades? I would perfer S.S. over aluminum.
Thanks a bunch,
Tim

It is a saltwater boat.....i know..i know..."Bass Boat Central: Hint Hint.. How ever take this compliment- you guys are much better then most of the saltwater forums. Plus catching a 90 pound wahoo beats the hell out of a 10 lb bass!!!
(That should get you guys going, but its ok I can handle it!)
THanks,
Tim
Maybe some of the guys have an idea.
By the way, all are Welcome here.![]()

I have to agree with you on that. They're real string stretchers. I'm guessing a 19 or 21 pitch Renegade offshore would work nicely.

Questions -
1) what prop are you running now?
2) what is your wot rpm?
3) do you have trim tabs?
4) old or new style bracket?
Need more info. That engine needs to be propped to turn 6K at wot with a heavy load in the summer. Winter you will not be able to pin-it without over-revving it. You may need two different props. I don't believe that they (BRP) makes the Renegade OS anymore, they have improved that 4 bladed offshore prop and now call it a Cyclone (me thinks). First wag would be a 14 3/4 x 19 Viper for a 3 bladed prop. With the bracket on the Dusky, you may be better off with the 4 blade 19" pitch Cyclone.

Rocketman,
Motor is new to me with out a prop.
Not sure of WOT RPM's as for it is not rigged yet.
No trim tabs (Yet)
THe boat is a 1993 so I would say it is the older bracket.
What ya Think?
Thanks,
Tim
If a dealer is mounting it, try to work with him to try different props and see how they work, even if you have to start with a BRP SST 15 x 19" and go from there. The DI (Ficht) motors need to be propped to run at 5800 to 6K @ wot. Anything less and the motor starts developing excessive combustion chamber/head temperature. Overpropping on any motor is not a good thing, but, it is especially critical on the DI motors. Also keep in mind that at this time of year, 90 deg + heat and 90% + humidity any outboard engine will not develop the hp that it does on a cool 60 deg and 45% humidity day as we have here in FL in the fall/winter. I live in east central fl, approx. 3 hours north of you and that is what I have experienced. The one nice thing is - when everyone else is winterizing their engines - it's HOO season down here. I currently run a 1995 Dougherty Marine 21' boat with a 2005 ETEC 225![]()

. I run a 14 3/4 x 19 Viper prop spinning 5800 in the heat of the summer with a full load of fuel and ice/drinks/tackle/fish

. During the winter and spring I was not able to "PIN-IT" as I would have surely hit the rev-limiter which is set @ 6050 on the big V-6 ETECS. I would first try a 3 blade 19" pitch prop and go from there. Let us know how it works and we'll go from there.

Thanks a bunch Rocketman...."winterizing??? What does that mean?? LOL...To us Floridians it means get the wire line ready and the downrigger set!!!
Thanks,
Tim
Yeah I hate ya'lls references to winterizing, altho I don't do it I still freeze my (edits) off in N Ga. Dude what does that Dusky weigh? That might help with the anaylisis!
The boat weights in at 3100lbs dry. If you go to Dusky.com you can see pics of a 203 under the model tab. It has a full transom with a "Dusky Drive" for the motor "Basically just a motor bracket with swim platforms. Hope this helps...
