Every 100 hours….just pony up for the yamalube. It is pretty good oil and has specific additives to reduce moisture in the crankcase.

Per Yamaha you should change it once a year regardless of hours. My oil change will be with 26 hours on it.

Just about any quality 4 stroke motor oil will work. Yamalube products are produce my oil mfrs for Yamaha. I've been running Yamaha 4 strokes for over 20 years and have used Yamalube, Amsoil, Schaffer, Mobil-1 and WM SuperTech.

There'd isn't anything magical about Yamalube.

It’s a long read but you can skip to the Marine oil testing. You might be surprised by the results.

Interesting how the Mercury oil was better than the Hammerlube. Makes me want to use Mercury oil in my SHO. Already have the Quicksilver high performance gear oil in my Yamaha lower. I know he says the automotive oil is better but how would it hold up turning 6000+ rpm for extended periods of time?
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.

I getting a new sho. Asked many questions. Still digging into this. Dealers say you can run other oils and doesn’t effect the warranty. For me I’m starting off with Dino oil to break in. No synthetic until I’m sure rings are set. I don’t run my engines for 6k for long runs. If you do yon need a racing oil and change it more often. Surprised the Yamaha oil didn’t do well. I’m not one that has to run the manufacturer’s product.

Someone please show 1 single piece of evidence that proves there has ever been 1 single oil related engine failure caused by using oil that met the Manufactures's SPECS that was not the brand of oil the Manufacturer had their label on.

I have been running Valvoline full synthetic marine 4 stroke oil this season and my SHO hasn’t blown up yet. Purchased on Amazon and it was very reasonably priced.

There isn't anything crazy expensive about it either though.
