New Caymas Owner - Trailer tail wagging

Just drove 6 hours home with my new CX19. Beautiful rig.
Factory trailer with tandem axles and brakes on 4 wheels.

Notice a lot of tail wagging at about 65 mph, especially present when passing or being passed by 18 wheelers.
Towing with a Jeep JL 4 door Wrangler Rubicon.

The severity was bad enough at times that I had to brake hard to eliminate the trailer swaying.
A few times it triggered my traction control on the Jeep.

    Anyone else have this issue?

I really don't want to take it back to the dealer as he's in Connecticut and I'm in SE PA.
Should be a 4 1/2 hour drive but there's always traffic and accidents on most of the interstates I have to travel.

    Any suggestions?

I hope you can figure it out with out going back to dealer. I have made several long tows and trailer tows straight as an arrow. Just a thought check tire pressure, mine was low when I picked my boat up. Stopped and aired all tires to 50 psi. Good luck

I pull a CX 21 with an F250 so I don’t have that problem, noticed your issue when I pulled with my f150 and I just figured truck was too light in the ass to keep it as stable as I preferred and won’t pull with anything but my diesel anymore.

Check YOUR HITCH height, if it's too high or too low then that will cause problems like you are talking about, Top of your ball hitch should be no more than 18 inches.

Mine pulls straight as a string and no issue. But I pull with a truck, not a short wheelbase vehicle like a jeep. Make sure your trailer is level when hooked to your vehicle.

Sounds like a weight distribution problem to me. Check your tongue weight. Your short wheel base tow vehicle could also be in play here.

My bet it’s your tow vehicle not trailer. I had a Jeep gladiator- would do same thing. I use tundra now no issue on interstate, local trips use gx 460 daily driver . Jeeps ain’t made for towing imo

Definitely not a trailer problem. As said before check your hitch height first. On a previous boat mine was approximately 2" too high and it would wag. Dropped it down and it pulled like a dream.

I have seen this so many times over the years while selling boats, its critical especially on a short wheelbase to get this right.

Totally agree with Rodney ... level trailer is a must. I had to buy a B&W Tow & Stow to get enough drop on my 21 GMC Yukon to level my trailer. Made all the difference in the world from my previous drop hitch.

Also agree that the hitch height needs to be lowered on the tow vehicle.

I can’t believe it has to be discussed.

You are not the only one. My CX 19 did the same thing when it is completely empty coming back from the dealership. Loaded it with rods and tackle and haven’t had an issue.
