    2024 521R Prop

Anyone running a 23 pitch Fury 3 blade on a 521R? Just purchased boat and prop came with it, wondering about the performance. Not trying to get mid 70's speed, but wondering about hole shot and stability of ride. Boat has 12" Bob's hyd jack plate.

Not the best prop for that but it can work. Don't run it too high, it does have good hole shot and that boat should run mid to high 60s.

What prop runs better? I don't ever see anyone running anything else on Z520r/z521r?

Bravo FS is generally the best all around prop for that, it lifts that heavy hull much better than a Fury. You mostly see Fury props because that is the cheapest stainess Mercury prop so that is what most dealers put on them.

I was wondering about this as well my 23 520 R has zero bow lift
With Hardly nothing in the boat that's heavy and I am running a 23
    Furry.
Best speed I have seen so far is 66 gps at 6000 rpm
I believe there has to be a better set up for me.
My old R93 with a 200 G2 will walk around this new boat.
Granted it's a foot smaller but it has 4 lead acid batteries and no jack plate.
I have 3 lithium and one AGM in the 520R some say that it the issue
No weight in the back . I don't have power poles so not sure what to do .
I will be following this thread.

The lithiums in the back will slow you down for sure and you have a ton of prop slip if those numbers are correct. I recommend switching to a Tempest for a 3 blade or a Bravo FS for a 4 blade. One cheaper thing you can try is to add about 100-120 lbs of weight in the bilge and see if that improves anything. Get some weight bags from Amazon they are cheap and work great for that. You should be able to get about 68-70 MPH out of that boat loaded lightly.

Should the vents on the Fury be plugged?
Mine came open, on my boat..
Would that help with the blow out when the the boat starts to plain ?

You might try plugging one hole If it’s not terrible —if it’s terrible then plug them all and start from the other direction

If its blowing out definitely put the plugs in, the 4 strokes often don't need any venting at all, but you can try it with just 1 or 2 in if you want.

I run all my vents wide-open and that works the best on my four stroke merc. Mercs need some venting

Ok that's fine then, as long as the prop isn't blowing out leave them open. Not every setup is the same, but the 4 strokes generally don't need as much venting as the 2 strokes.

What prop to pad would you suggest? And what would be “too high”? Thx

3 blade Tempest or 4 blade Bravo. For a Fury they generally don't run well much higher than 3.5-3.25" PTP.

I just put a 23 pitch razor XLR from Marks Propellers on my boat and wow, does it work good, boat has never climbed up on pad like it does with this prop and I was able to come up an inch more on the motor-- boat is too fast now

67 with fury. 70-71 now but very loose and squirrelly. Might get 74 or so need more seat time.

That’s the problem a lot of times running a Bravo or Mark’s prop they have a lot of stern lift exactly what you don’t need with all Lithium batteries.

I have a 2020 Ranger 520L. I recently switched to a Bravo 1 FS 24p and after 18 hours so far my Fury 3 blades will be up for sale. The Bravo is better in every aspect on my rig except speed. There is 1 mph difference but the fury 3 isn't close in performance elsewhere. Id be willing to bet after a trip to Croxton the Bravo would be as fast or faster on my rig.
