I have found any Honda engine to be bullet proof.
Not for speed but will not let you down.
The motor is about a 100 lbs heavier than the others.
Super quiet, very smooth power band. Oil change is easy. I guess it is good on fuel. It's just not something I worry about. I have been more than pleased with mine. Got any more questions pm your # and I will give ya a call

Friend of mine got one last year on a used rig be bought. It's been a good motor so far, but the one time he needed a dealer, he had to drive a ways.
based off of the 2.4 car engine I believe super reliable

The Japanese have the small engine reliability down, but I’d be concerned about the availability of qualified mechanics when it comes to the new comers in outboards.
Great motors - not the fastest by absolutely reliable.
I think it might be over the weight rating for your boat depending on year.

They are great motors but good luck trying to find someone to work on them.
I repowered a 620VS with the 250hp. First season went great. Super easy to do annual service on. If your boat isn’t a wide body designed for a heavier engine you may not have great results. No shortage of dealers to get service needed around here.
Very slow, 8-10 MPH slower than the same HP Yamaha or Mercury on the same boat. I would go with a 200 Yamaha SHO if you want power, speed and reliability.
I'd go with what brand your closest trusted dealer carries.
My boat is not 8 to 10 mph slower with a Honda.

Surprised Honda hasn’t come out with a 250 to get into the bass boat market

I would have chosen Honda or Suzuki for my own boat if given the choice. Never had a second's trouble out of my newer Mercury in 7 years (bought new) and I'm sure my Yamaha will be just as reliable but I'll choose supposed reliability over a couple extra mph every day of the week.
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.
Treat others like you want to be treated when on the water EVEN WHEN IN A TOURNAMENT! No fish is worth having a confrontation because you cut someone off or came in on top of someone.
There's a reason for so few mechanics. They don't break. I've got a friend that had 2 boats with 250's on them and all he did was change the oil. I'd own one if I was in the market for a new motor.
