My daughter is fishing a tournament with me

I’m gonna have 4 spinning reels rigged for her.
    1. Top water popper
    2. wacky rig with a senko
    3. spinner bait/ square bill
    4. fluke

what do y’all think? She hasn’t perfected the bait caster yet.

That's cool good luck to you and your daughter. Did that with my daughter when she was younger for a Club guys and gals event and we won 75 dollars so she thought it was easy to go fishing for money Your choices look good not sure your lakes but wacky senko works most places.

Looks good, although I'd personally substitute a drop shot for the fluke. Good Luck!

Not sure how it is down there but I'd swap out a swim jig for the spinnerbait/squarebill...my daughter has fished a couple of tournaments with me and her favorites are swimjig, senko and frog.

Senko with a spinning reel, swim jig and frog I've got her using an SLX DC. That being said I just took a guy from work out and he couldn't use a baitcaster so I had him throwing swim jigs on by dock Senko rod which is a MH with 14lb mono (XT) worked pretty well. Could easily do the same thing with a MH/H spinning rod and braid for the frog. There was a guy in our club who only used spinning reels and fished frogs like that. He did fine.

I'd probably trade the fluke for a ned rig.

I suggest an underspin with a 3"-4.5" swimbait with the shad and panfish spawn coming up.

I fished a half day thing with my 8 year old daughter couple weeks ago, same deal she's not using baitcasters yet. Did an underspin instead of the spinnerbait, avoided treble hooks and gave her a wacky and a drop shot. We did alright. It's certainly easier for her to cast as far as she can. When we tried to pitch around some docks and shallow stuff it's rougher. Had a fun day though, wasn't sure how the first derby with her would go.

I found for my kids and wife that if I tie on a 3" fat albert grub on a 3/16 oz jighead they have a good time. Has almost made me throw it more often.

I'd rig a Drop Shot and maybe a Texas Rig too. A Creature Bait on a Texas Rig drug along the bottom can be killer for a youngster !!

I would add in a 1/8 or 3/16oz round jighead with a 2.8 kitech or some other swimbait and sling that thing around docks, rocks, timber or any kinda cover. Also can fish it alil deeper if needed

Berkely Choppo instead of popper. My 6 year old son fishes it all the time. A lot easier for him to use since he doesn't have to impart any action.
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
