Retractable Rod straps z19

Has anyone added retractable rod straps to a z19 ?? Looks to me like the gunwale really isn’t tall enough…. If I mount them on the deck I’m concerned water may leak into the rod locker

My dealer says they have done it. I didn't see it myself though.

The best way to install them might be flush with the deck, not in the gunwale. Like this:

How many rods can you hold on each side doing it this way, anyone know? or has done it?

I put mine in the deck like the video above. One of the best things I have done because the loop end of the factory bungee always seemed to find the heel of my foot without shoes.

heck retractable straps will catch the line and try to throw your road over the side. Nothing is perfect. No idea on installation.
