Not all hulls are the same, some boats like Bass Cats and Phoenix do run better with a fury because of the hull design, Tritons typically do better with a Tempest.
I know that butbtjete lots of people that have good results with the fury and I'm not gonna change it till Ive tried the other options first
Keep in mind that the Fury prop normally needs to be about 3/8" deeper than the Tempest Plus for best performance. Many folks run them at the same height and that's really not a good comparison as they're quite different in their makeup.
Back to the wedges/spacers topic- the Mercury bulletin on this is nothing "new". Service Bulletin was issued in 2013 (more than a decade ago).
It was new to me and it seems new to lots of other people. Kinda crazy how many people had no idea a out this. I'll bet most of the people that recommended wedges to me and run them with their mercs had no clue it was an issue
