Can I ask for some prayers?

Greeting to all. It's been a while since I've been here, and I'm happy to see the forum is still around. Unfortunately I have a rather urgent prayer request.

My wife's younger (she's about 45) daughter, my stepdaughter was shot a few days ago by a madman (we won't go into possible motives, they're not really important anyway) who apparently lived next door to her. She managed to get back into the house where she called 911. The usual emergency responders, responderd, the perp was captured, and Melissa was transported to a hospital, where she is still alive, but in a medically induced coma. She's lost several feet of colon and intestines and no doubt will never be the same again. Of course she's not out of the woods yet even.

So please, lift her up in your prayers if you could. Put her on your prayer lists at church. Melissa is a good kid. She did time in prision years back, and will freely admit to that. She told me once, "I didn't do what they convicted me of, but I'd gotten away with so much crap I should have gone to jail for I couldn't grip." She got her GED while in "the joint" as she laughlingly calls it, and got her nursing degree also. She has never been in trouble since. Her mother and I are so proud of her. I don't have any daghters of my own, so God sent her and her sister to me to make up for it. I got another son in the deal too. He's no slouch either. Army officer, chaplin, and Lutheran minister.

Thanks to everyone, and God bless you all.

    Your's in Christ Jesus,

    Wayne.

Oh, and pray for the poor man who did the shooting. May he realize what he's done, and seek forgiveness from Jesus, repent and turn away from his previous life, and be washed in the precious blood of Jesus. Amen.

    Wayne,
I am so very sorry to hear of the ordeal your step daughter is going through, and I pray for Melissa, Misty, and y'all that the Lord will touch you with His healing hand and comfort y'all during this challenging times.
May the mercy and grace of Christ be your strength granting full healing to Melissa, and give her the courage of a forgiving heart in the evil that has been done against her.

In the grace and peace of our Savior Christ,
    Frank

BTW, as long as the Lord gives me breath and I am welcomed to post on BBC, I will keep this forum going as best possible, even without a moderator.

Thanks everybody. I knew this was one place I could come to and find comfort.

Oh, and I should have added, this occurred in Lockport, Ill. A couple of people on other forums have linked it to another incident similar to it in Louisiana (probably the "Cajun" connection in my name).

And thank you Dig. I appreciate it. I'll try to remember to stop by more often. And under happier circumstances.

UPDATE: I've learned this morning that Melissa is still hanging in there. She's still in the coma (medically induced) but they're weaning her off the drugs while keeping her under observation. The fever she was running has broken.

Meanwhile the "alleged" shooter has been denied any pretrial bail or other type of release. If anyone else is interested in more detail, do a search for "Lockport Ill. shooting.

    Wayne,
Remember, this is your forum and you can stop by whenever it is possible for you. I am glad to hear that she is improving, since they would not have woken her up if she wasn't, and they used that technique even for severe major surgeries. Excellent that her fever is heading in the right direction, and by the glorious power of Christ, she is on her healing path, though it may take longer than many will think.

May the right hand of Christ be be upon her and y'all during this time of recovery.

Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN
O blood and water which gush forth from the heart of Jesus, have mercy on us
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and the whole world

Oh boy, Dig, do I know about those medical coma's. They kept Misty one for almost a week back when she had the brain aneurysm back in 2007...2007? Has it been that long? We haven't heard anything more, and we're operating on the "no news is good news" theory at least for now. We'll call later to see if anyone knows anything more and will certainly keep everyone here posted. Keep praying of course, I'm sure that's the best thing.
