1998 Mercury 90hp ELPTO Bogs/hesitates until half throttle to full throttle.

Good evening, I am having issues finding anything related to the problems that im having. The outboard will start and idle like a dream, however from about quarter throttle until you hit half throttle there is sort of a bog or hesitation, once you hit half throttle it completely “wakes up” in a way and rpms begin to increase and is fine all the way to full throttle. I was wondering if there may be an explanation for the “bog” or hesitation, and why the problem only exists in that area of throttle and not at idle or higher than half throttle. Thanks yall

carb motors have to transition from idle ckts to main ckts.
depending on load that is usually in that 1500-2000 rpm range.
if the carbs are clean, being too lean on the idle ckts will make it worse.
the 4 cyl got an accelerator pump, but they didn't use it on the 3 cyl.

And we should add the 4-cylinder got an accel pump only because the lower two cylinders didn't have idle circuit jetting to support combustion (thus requiring instant fuel when you accelerated on those two cylinders).

Your 3 cylinder isn't that way.

You may also find that opening the idle air screws 1/8 - 1/4 turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE helps. Often find these do best at 1.25 or 1.5 turns from lightly seated.

Today's "fuels" (which don't burn the same) are what causes this.
