From what I understand, they are called half backs. They are Yankees that move down to Florida, find that it is too hot, and then move halfway back north. I also see many plates from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey every day around the Raleigh area. I think that is what is going on.
Wouldn’t it b nice if they tried to change their home state into something that suits them?

Everyone knows that's the Central Area for Relocation of Yankees (C-A-R-Y)

Been here 11 years and stimulated the economy in NC before that. Technically a southerner since I was born below the Mason/Dixon line in southern NJ.
They believe they can post the water around their dock and prevent someone from boat fishing the stream or river in front of their property.

My sister has had a place up there I could only guess around 35 years. But she lives down here. And I don't know how many times she has had a waterline break during winter. And she pays someone there to clean it and keep an eye on it. Her and her girlfriends were just up there for a week, last week.
That's funny right there, I don't care who you are!
I'm in Fayetteville; home of every transplanted (Yankee) Servicemember and his family...all claiming Texas or Florida for taxes.
Full disclosure, I'm from Texas, but have been here since 1989...so there's that.

haha yep heard that my entire life.... even though Cary suits it better, Cary is actually lowkey and quiet now.. Think Apex is the new hot spot, that place you wouldnt believe now...
Cant imagine what Charlottes like now.. Stayed in Charlotte about 15 years ago while fishing Wylie and that drive every morning and afternoon was unreal.. Even at 5:30- 6:00am never seen so much traffic that early.. cant imagine what its like now especially with Charlotte being one of the "top places to move" now...
But yes the drive from my house in Wake Forest to go to work in raleigh (10.4 miles) sometimes takes 45 mins- 1 hour..

Hi Mike.
I will say, I have planned on retiring to NC or VA for many years from Northern NJ.

You didn't get the memo. The Mason/Dixon line was moved a while back. The new line is the James River in Richmond.
