Hawthorne
I had today off so decided to fish Hawthorne. needed to stop in Grinnell on way home to get my buck from taxidermist. it was tough! only managed 1 bass and had a musky follow spinnerbait to boat. never seen this lake so choked with weeds this early! so choked you can't even get a cast to the bank! I believe it's from our crazy mild winter! water temp was 58-63. has anyone else been to lakes this spring and it's choked with weeds? I heard little river is the same.

I’ve see a few lakes in sw Iowa with lots of weed. I think the clear water and a little sun really get them growing. It’s been hard for me the last few weeks. I don’t know if the bass spawn is close or going on??? I haven’t seen any beds yet so I would say no but the wt is warming fast I saw 63 today. The water was warmer then the outside this morning lol.
