    upon replacing the trigger plate, the motor started right up, more the less....and starts up pretty easily upon multiple starts.

    So still need to do the sync.....

    Really need to buy the service manual as the link and sync is a several steps together and beyond what can really be posted easily here. First you set up or verify carb settings and then throttle connections. Then you verify TDC, then set cranking WOT timing and then set idle timing in the water in gear.

    See the chapter "Engine Synchronization and Adjustments" in the Service Manual. You will need a timing light and a dial indicator (at a minimum).
