    devcon question

Just got my first shipment of baits in to paint....I have done custom work on Harleys but never tried something like this HA HA...........I see that most use the Devcon Epoxy for clear.....have never used it so don't know a thing about it.
Here is the question.....is it thick or thin or ???? If fairly thick has anyone tried to thin it down a little and if so what did you use.......Don't want to spray it just want a good smooth finish
    Thanks

It will become thick in colder temps heat it up a little and it will thin out once you heat it up you will need to work quicker

It is fairly thick but will smooth out quickly in a warm area. I do not like to thin it with anything. When you alter the chemical properties of epoxy to make it a little thinner then it will cause some other problem later. When most talk about D2t epoxy yellowing this is one reason.

The suggestion I got was to paint it on thick, then just before you put it on the rottesirie use your brush and wipe off the excess. Been working for me.

I just leave it the way it is(devcon) and brush it on. I tried a drop or 2 of acetone and the finish seemed to be cloudy when it dried.

In cool weather, I thin D2T with a few drops of denatured alcohol. It doubles the brush time but won't significantly extend the overall cure time or cause any clouding or softening problems.
