Well got to the lake yesterday. High school tourney out there and lots of boat traffic but much less wind. Was able to reach 62.5 around 5900 rpms. Couldn't really run it WOT for long with all of the boats crowded on that small lake but it was an improvement from previous outing. I lowered it a little more to see what that would do. I thought I came down 1/8 but after tightening everything back up on the jackplate it was probably closer to 1/16 than 1/8. Oh well I will try that and see how it does before moving it again. I am going to zero in on it sooner or later.
Update: Not sure what has happened but hole shot was horrible compared to what is has been. Don't know if it was from lowering the motor that 1/16 inch or what but I wouldn't think that little would make that big a difference. No room to really test top speed on the lake I was on. Hole shot was the worst it has ever been since purchasing the boat. Water temp was 75 so is the warmest I have seen too. I am going back to the large prop plugs (dropped to the medium when I had the motor set higher and didn't see any ill effects). I will see if I get the hole shot back. This is the lowest the motor has been set with the medium plugs. If that doesn't do it I will raise the motor backup that 1/16 and see what it happens.
Well got the Large diameter prop plugs in and it does make a difference in the hole shot from the medium ones. Had it on the lake on 5/1 and hole shot was much better and seemed back to normal. Not much wind at all but boat traffic way up. Bunch of skiers and tubers. So after lowering the jackplate, gas not all the way full but gas gauge still showed full, water temp 78 or 79 and replacing the prop plugs from medium to large I get the results below. More RPM's and speed. Hmm. May have to lower it another 1/16 inch and see what happens.
