    Brush Cleaning Question

What does everyone use the clean the nozzle on your brush? I'm toying with the idea of buying a kit but not sure if its worth it. I thought I cleaned my brush pretty well after the last itme I used it (beginning of summer) but apparently I didn't and its not spraying very evenly or very well. Took her apart and the nozzle is partially clogged. I have it soaking in some Createx cleaner over night but thought it might need a brush run through it? Thx!

when i used createx, i used glass cleaner mostly then rinsed with hot water. the createx cleaner is expensive for how long it doesnt last.

if its really clogged, you could use a paint remover if your airbrush is metal. just make sure you clean it with hot soapy water after, then rinse in hot water.

If youre getting a lot of clogs you may want to purchase the createx illustration base or the transparent base medium to thin the paint a bit. The illustration base is thinner than the transparent base. The transparent base seemed to bond better for "ghost" styles. $10 for 32oz will last a long time.

I hear ya! I bought some when I first started out. I've been using glass cleaner as well. The nozzles on these Iwatas are so small and fragile not to mention pricey!! I soaked it overnight so when I get home in the morning I'll check it and see if it cleaned up. Thx for the suggestions!!

I use laq. thinner and will actually let it soak overnight, depending on tip size try to run a brush thru it, your right the iwata tips at around 30 bucks each are pricey

Astro the cleaning brushes for the iwata are pretty cheap......like $7 or so on ebay.

Ky521 if you are talking about the .35 iwata nozzles......there is a place on ebay that sells them for $14 each....

I completely disassemble my brush after each use and between colors, even if I only shot a drop of paint. I also backwash it in a cup of water during the process. It's time consuming, but I don't ever worry about it clogging.

    Re: Brush Cleaning Question (Astro-T)

Thx for the links! I went ahead and got a set of those brushes.

I do disassemble and clean my brush after every use as well however I guess the last time I used it I didn't do hot of a job. Got it all cleaned up now but have to wait for a day off to try it out. I appreciate all the tips and will put them all to use! Thx again!!
