    2008 Triton 21x2 setup help(New to Boating)

I have a question about the following setup. When I'm running wide open I'm at about 7000 rpm's .This seem really high compared to what I see from other posts on this site. I need some help with setup

    25 Fury 7000 RPM 70.5 GPS
    3/4 tank fuel heavy load
    10 inch jackplate
    25lb water pressure

I would say your tach is off, do you have smartcraft gauges or analog tach? I think if it was running 7g it would of long ago blown up. Best bet take it back to your dealer or someone will come along and know which way to adjust the tach.

I have the exact boat as you, the only difference is that I am running a 25 Tempest. I can only turn 5700 and most of the time 5600. Your tach must be off. If you had gone over 6200 your rev limiter would have sounded and your motor would have gone into guardian mode.

Tach is miscalibrated. Impossible to turn that RPM.... Guardian would have long since shut you down to "idle speed".

Is there a way to calibrate it.

I took out the tach and there is a series of dip switches would you happen to know which ones should be open or closed

If you call Triton, they'll be glad to give you the "dip switch" positions for your engine.

There is also a very small "tape cover" on the side of the gauge, as I recall. Underneath, you'll find a small allen-screw. This is the calibration pot.

DO NOT attempt to recalibrate this without a "guaranteed accurate" means of doing so.

My preferred method is with the Computer Diagnostic System. It has the ability to "generate" a 3000 RPM signal (with the engine not running)... so that you can calibrate the analog tach to 3000 RPM with this signal "on".

Usually results in a tach that is accurate to within 100 RPM (not too shabby for an analog tach).

Sorry, to keep asking you all these questions but dealer is NO help at all. Currently dip switch 2 is set on which by the sticker on the tach is for 6 cylinder. The motor idles at around 1400 RPM. I searched around the board and I saw a reference to 6p for someone that had a similar issue so I made the assumption this could mean dip switch 6. I changed this switch and now the motors idles at around 400RPM's seems more realistic. Bad assumption or Not?

Bad assumption. 6P is a pole setting for a "pot-switch" style tach- and has nothing to do with "dip switches".

Your engine idles in the 550-640 RPM range.... well below 1000 RPM's.

You will need to call Triton Boats to obtain the CORRECT dip switch settings.
