'06 225 Pro XS runs for a little while then bogs down

    Hey

    I hope someone can help.......
I have an '06 225 Pro XS. It starts no problem and will run for a short while (about 1/4 mile) and then it bogs down as if it's not getting enough fuel. Originally I thought that it was the bulb as it didn't stay hard so I replaced that but that hasn't helped. You pump the bulb to make it hard and then a few seconds later it has a little softness to it.
Today I replaced the fuel filter and that hasn't helped either. Could it be a bad fuel pump?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Numerous possibilities!

I'd start with the pulse fuel pump, and the fuel lines from the tank to the engine.

Remove the anti-siphon valve from the fuel tank and ensure that it is not clogged, sticking, or "blocked".

Make sure you used ONLY an OEM Primer Bulb.

Pulse fuel pump kit part number is: 21-857005A1 ($21).

Once you've completed these, let's see where you're at (we may need to go further, but these items should be done on the "frontside" to ensure proper fuel "delivery" to the VST).

The next step will be to confirm proper VST, low pressure, and high pressure fuel pump operation.

    Thanks

    I used an OEM bulb.

I'll get started with your suggestions and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again.

    Hey

I just want to make sure before I start taking things apart. The fuel line is attached to a right angled fitting coming out of the top of the tank. If I unscrew this will the anti-siphon valve be attached to it inside the tank?
Sorry for asking a dumb question I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time.
    Thanks

That "nipple or fitting" is ITSELF the "anti-siphon valve".

Once you remove that nipple- look at the back side (tank side) of the fitting. You should see a spring and check ball in it.

    Hey

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner.
Well I removed the Nipple and there's no spring and check ball.
    So what do you think?
    Thanks

Continue to replace the fuel line from the tank to the engine (make sure you have a new, OEM Primer bulb...

I'd also obtain a fresh fuel filter (35-8M0020349) and a pulse fuel pump kit (21-857005A1). Install both and see how it does.

If problems persist, it's likely that you've got debris that has passed into the VST, or a failing low pressure fuel pump.
