My new Deep Diver Cranker rod from ALX rods

I thought I would post my new deep diving crankbait rod built by ALX rods. It is built off of a St. Croix 3C70HM blank. I think it will also make a good heavy spinnerbait and small swimbait rod too. I couldn't be more happy how it turned out. Alex did a great job on it. Here are a couple of pictures of it. The grips in the last picture, I hope to have on my next rods for Alex to build for me.

Here is one with my Citica (upgraded to a Curado).

and hopefully these are the next grips to get used on my shallow and medium running crankbait rods to be built later if they are the right size.

Thanks - all the design credit goes to Tommy. He wanted the grip and I wasn't so sure, but once done it turned out looking good and really unique.

Rod weighs 4.05 oz… factory version is 4.7oz.

Alex is being a bit modest. I just knew what blank I wanted and had an idea about trying a wild camo grip. I left all the rest in Alex's hands to make it look good and he did a great job. The original plan was to use the loud blue camo grip in the bottom pic in my original post but we found out that it had been discontinued. Alex and I both searched for weeks trying to locate one but nothing in the size I needed. Alex sent me a pic of the one we went with and both he and I were a little skeptic at first because of the purple in it. I took a gamble on it because I really wanted some type of blue/white camo grip. It turned out alot better than I imagined and I actually like the purple in it after all.

The crazy thing a couple of days after I got the rod in, I got a call from the distributer that I recently ordered the black/grey/white and red/blue/white grips from. She told me that she found a blue/white camo grip that we orginally wanted to use while she was locating the other two grips although her system showed none in stock. I told her to send it to me. Alex, I can already see another rod being built soon and at least two more later on. I think you can tell by the one picture, what grips I want to use( if they are the right sizes). They are all 3/8" ID. Thanks again for all the help and patience.

    Re: (jughead101)

Thanks guys. I finally got a chance to take it out last weekend to try it out. Although I wasn't able to hook a fish with it yet, I can tell you I really like the action of the rod. I think it has just the right amount of flex for those big DD22 and Series 6XD crankbaits. I have tried the moderate action MH rods and I thought they flexed too much on retreives for my taste for these those big cranks. I haven't tried it on 3/4-1oz spinnerbaits but I will this weekend.
