I am new to the equipment, just installed Carbon on 27th of May, connected it to internet and it updated to 23.3. Tried to connect trolling motor Xi5 and it was not responding properly.
Navigation somewhat worked but speed could not be changed etc. Anchoring did not work at all.
There was one more issue from the start when unit shows some movements constantly in the range of 0.2-04 mph when the boat is not moving. I had Garmin previously and it was showing 0 speed when the boat is not moving.
Wrote to Lowrance and got reply this morning. Apparently speed showing is normal and called "selective availability in the GPS satellite system.":))) Not sure really about that one.
Anyhow they suggested to do the same upgrade from SD card instead of internet. So I did that, then hard reset, turned the unit on and it seemed to do the update again on its own. Now it seems to be communicating with TM properly, have not checked on the water yet but at least it responds to all commands from the unit. So it does look that update thru the internet can be an issue, at least in some cases.

So I have 4 - HDS Live 12's (2 at console and 2 at bow - 1 at bow dedicated to AT - 3 are 3 or 4 yrs old and one is 2.5 yrs old) and AT2, and a ghost TM. It seems like you see issues with carbons and ATI a majority of the time? I have held off updating but it looks like the lives and AT2 have very few issues. I have been trying to keep up with all of the reports but I am sure I missed something somewhere.

I have a Pro 12, Live 12, AT2, ghost, and SS3D on the network. I did the update and have had 0 issues after 4 trips. Cleaner, faint/no stitching and longer distance with better separation than before on the AT2.

The newer Lives that came from the factory with .37 software installed are the problems! They don't share (network) well with each other or older Live units!

    bgibson,
My HDS Live 12 .37 was lucky enough to share with an old HDS Carbon7 and a HDS Live 9 including WPT, Maps, auto pilot and all sonars including the AT1. The .37 was able to communicate properly with my two other units that were running 22.1.1-65.1.18 upd. I realize that I got lucky with my chip compatibility, but Lowrance needs to reflash all .37's that don't work. I only had two problems with loading the software:
    1. I had the AT1 freeze once on the .37 after I updated the other two units without updating the .37. I updated the .37 with the 23.3 (fingers crossed because I was aware that there was no going back) and never had any freezing the rest of the day!
    2. My Ghost 360 stated that I had no source. For some strange reason, the update turned my sonar off. I turned it on and it worked.
Good luck and I'm sure that Lowrance will make them right.

From what I am reading it looks like if you have an older Live 12 with AT2 you should do the update? I have 4 Lives but the 1 running AT is not connected to the other 3. Does this sound right?

Honestly if running Lives and AT1 I would not bother with the udpate at all. I've already reverted the update on my AT1's and may also revert it on my Lives as well depending on how bad the autonav/track deal is on the water...

    AT2 - YES update immediately

AT1 - NO do not update if everything is currently working for you.

2nd trip with updates Lowrance hardware today... Carbons and AT2. 5-6 hours not one glitch. I am satisfied that the update eliminated my AT2 gremlins!

Can I manually plot a path on the map, and then start navigating/following that path, or is that broken with the update. If that's broken, then yeah I'll be downgrading the Head Units back to 22....18.

I assume normal spotlock fuctions, jog, etc are still good?

Did some testing today, no lockups with either AT1 (reverted to 22...18) or the Lives (on current 23.whatever), and didn't have any autonav troubles either, so guess I will stay with the new version on the Lives.

Good to know about the AT2 update… was starting to wonder if the image freezing and slo-mo was a voltage problem that I was experiencing with new boat or due to firmware with AT2 being relatively new. New to Lowrance units after coming from Garmin. Really like my Pros thus far.

There was a post in this thread describing interference with side scan when Humminbird is thrown onto the mix.

My set up for quite awhile was a Carbon at the helm and and Elite FS7 at the bow. The bow unit is hooked up to an Ultrex with Universal US2 2D sonar. The Carbon has a 3in1 and skimmer transducer on the transom/jackplate.

Both the Carbon and Elite units are networked via Ethernet. This setup has been working great for me until the latest update. I updated both units to the 23 software via card. Did hard resets on both units after updating.

Ever since the new update, my side scan has major interference that is showing many random bright dots on the screen. It does this both in the water and out the water and on both frequencies.

I spent a whole day trying to diagnose. What I found was that the only way I could stop this interference on the sidescan was to turn off the US2 sonar on the Minnkota Ultrex. It NEVER did this with the exact same setup prior to the 23 update. I lowered the ping rate on the US2 and tried different frequencies with the same result.

I pickup/drop the TM a lot when fishing, so I really don’t want to always have to turn the US2 sonar off each and every time running to spots. And again, with this same setup it never did this before the latest update.

Thankfully I found this thread and now I know I’m not alone. Updated hds live 12 and 16. The 16 down scan no longer works properly. Lost sonar depth and scroll speed is slow as molasses. Soft and hard reset did nothing.

Make sure your 2D sonar is not STOPPED. You symptoms indicate that it is. You should also see the same slow and choppy scroll speed in downscan as well as sidescan.

I fished all day yesterday with no issues. I run dual AT2 units and the ping synch works great to eliminate interference. Running HDS Pro's, dual AT2's, and 23.3 software on all units. I don't care for the new pallet colors for my water, but then again I always stick to the standard amber or blue (I tend to run contrast on the hot side for more detail).

How bout a video on the ping sych. Does it synch all transducers?

I did record some AT2 video, but will not get around to viewing it or editing it for a while (too much going on). I didn't look to see if it synchs 2D sonar or StructureScan, but doubt it since the blue wire connection is only made between dual AT2 units. Got some good video of all the smallmouth bass I caught with it, but it will be a week probably before I can edit that also and post it to my Youtube Channel.
    ciao,
    Marc

Never had the AT1 lockup on the last update, (.25) however, I got 'one' during an 8 hour trip yesterday on the new and improved "latest". (Version: 23.3-67.3.26)
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

Did you ever figure this issue out?
    I'm having the same problem.
