I personally don't remove the paint. I just skuff with fine sand paper so the primer can bond with the bait. If it''s something like a chrome trap I will usually chip the chrome off then prime. Their bad about chipping. If you really want to strip though go to harbor freight and get you a mini sand blaster. Their really cheap and the guy's that use them love them.

Best answer is don't. Sand and paint. I do about 20-30 repaints a week and that's what works for me. Also give them a good wipe down with alcohol. Lord only knows what got on them in the tackle box, lol. Really though, all the different scent oils for baits out there play hell when you go to paint, so get that stuff off of there.

Thanks for the response, if I may ask what kind of primer do you recommend? I have a single action Paasche airbrush and was wondering what I could spray...

Thanks I will try that...I was wondering what kind of primer would cover that? Sorry to ask so many questions!

Personally I like Krylon for plastic's in satin white. It dries super fast and bond's to the bait. I've also used etching primer and a few other's but the Krylon work's the best. You can pick it up a wal mart. If you want to get serious with your paint you can also get you a can of bulldog adhesion promoter to really give the paint some staying power. I used to use it also but really haven't used it in a while.
