Powder Coat Jig Fixture Ideas Needed

    Guys,

Looking for ideas (pictures if possible) of what fixture you guys use to bake your jigs heads after they have been powder coated…I am currently using two aluminum angle pcs with two small clamps on each side to hold the hoos and the jig head on top.

    Thanks…

I just took some stanless steel leader wire and made hooks that I can put through the eye of the hook and hang on racks in oven.

Re: Powder Coat Jig Fixture Ideas Needed (C-Man)

    Guys,

I have hand them from the rack before but at times I get a bump on powder coat at the bottom of the lure. Maybe I am applying too much powder coat…now that I am using a fluid beg I can control my powder application much better. Maybe I’ll try a couple with the wire idea and I will hand some from the rack and see what happens again…

The only issue is that I can’t control the amount of powder as well when using the smaller jars (not enough powder to put in fluid bed)…

    Thanks for the feedback…

Christmas tree ornament hangers work good for hanging odd shaped things like blades, but I just hang jigs by their hook on the oven racks.

C-Man - the "bump" in the powder on the lure head sounds like to high of heat or too long in the oven.

If you're having those "nipples" on the ones you dip into the jar, it's probably the head is a bit too hot. Too much powder sticks to the head and runs when you cure. Before you dip, loosen up the powder with a knife or screwdriver first, then mix it up again after a few jigs.

I also just hang them by the hooks on the rack and don't have problems.

TJ's Tackle has exactly what you need. They are called Jig Clamps. They also sell the fluid beds and the powder paint http://www.tjstackle.com
