Hey neighbor! First, I have seen a lot of things called rootbeer, but I am pretty sure I know what you mean. Here are some tips to start getting in that direction, and you can fine tune until you get it the way you want it. Start with as clear an orange as you have. Slowly add black until it starts to get near, but not quite, as dark as you want it. It will probably look too orange at this point, but here comes the magic. Blue is the complimentary color of orange, and as a result will gray down the color. Just touch in little bits of it until it starts to look right. The more you put in, the closer it is going to push it toward a gray/green. The blue is also going to darken your color a little bit, getting the rest of the way there to the right tone. If you are using transparent or translucent color pull it up on the side of your mixing cup to see what it will look like spread thin, colors like this will always look darker in mass tone. Hope this helps. I wish I could give you a set formula, but this is the only way I know how to mix color.
