Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
The unbraced top's that are sold as micro tops suck. They will NOT hold up to bass fishing use. I tested them on several of my own rods...within four trips the metal either broke from rebending it into place, or the metal distorted causing the ring to pop out.
If I want a small ring similar to the micro rings I use the smallest Fuji alconite available (3.9 I think) and split the tube to apply it to the rod. For rods using 15lb. or above I either use the 5.5 alconite in the tube size that fits or a regular size 6 alconite. Althought I use Batson BMKLG guides I like the alconite for the tip since it has a lower profile and doesnt change the line path as much as other brands tops.
I've had very good experiences with American Tackle NCMT micro tops on my flipping sticks. No issues at all for the whole season.
However, they are spiral wrapped and not traditionally wrapped. I think if you went traditional there could be a problem. But spiral wrapped, flipping with 65lb braid, they work extremely well.

I found the exact same things as Mr. Sheets stated with the non-braced tops. I also slice/split the tube with the BFAT Fuji tops. Harry
That American Tackle top is nearly identical to the Batson....I woud NEVER recommend putting one on a customer rod.
Just tough it out with the Alconites in the 5.5 or 6 ring. I don't even split to get smaller-BFATs are tough-living with them until something as good and smaller comes along.
