What netting to get scale look?

Ok I just got an airbrush set up and a bunch of paint, now I just need some tips to get started. First I need to know what netting you guys are useing to get the scale look.....is it just the bait netting used to tie roe balls? And I need to know what top coat to use...I have 2 part slow set epoxy I will be useing to start but was wondering if there is any spray on clear that will hold up? I was thinking of ordering some Dick Nites Top Coat...is this brush on or spray on?

I just bought some mesh from Hobby Lobby for $.99/yd.......get the smallest mesh you can find so it will look natural in relation to the size of the bait you are painting.....as for the top caot, I got it at Hobby Lobby also, it's called Envirotex Lite pour on finish..........it's in the woodworking section......FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS 100%.....if you don't mix it 50/50 and mix it like crazy, you'll get bad results........it is all that I have tried so far but many others use Devcon 30 min. epoxy......I was going to try it but had no luck finding any locally....you will have to have some sort of rotisserie to keep the baits turning till the coating sets also:thumbup: .........I modified a BBQ grill rotisserie and it works fine........not my idea though , borrowed it from 21XDC

Netting= wedding veil material at wally world around 3.00 will buy you more than you can use in 5 yrs

Top coat= start with devcon 30min if you can find it,it's foolproof for a guy starting out then move on to the bartop epoxys like e-tex lite, crystal sheen,nu-lustre etc...
then if you want to spray the auto clearcoats or dick nite is sprayable or brushable

+1 What stacey said. All I can add is a .75 minnow net works good for scales also.
