Neuse River - Bass and Crappie

Bluff: This thread is dedicated to all anglers who frequently fish the Neuse River for Largemouth Bass and Crappie. Fill free to share Tips, Water Conditions, and Fishing Reports.

If you are anything like me, you look for every opportunity to get out of the house and go fishing. Even though the weather has been below freezing the past week, the temptation is real.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to some warmer days, but even on really cold days the fishing can be the best all year. Why? Less fishing pressure, fewer boats on the water and the fish tend to stack up.

Tip: Locating Crappie: Swift Creek, just past Cool Springs Boat Ramp, is currently holding 12–15-inch crappie. Target laydowns and brush piles near channel swings. Side Scan to easily find targets. Bait: Live Minnows work the best; however, I prefer a crappie jig with white trailer.

Thanks. I fish in New Bern every year during the July time frame (we have timeshare) and I'm usually on my kayak fishing for largemouth. Normally in the upper broad creek or trent river area.
