painting a Rod!!!!

If I buy a new blank to build my own rod, can i paint it any color i want ??

What would I need to do I f I wanted to paint one of my rods a new color!!! and what would yall recommend to use!!!

do a search on rodbuilding.org. Most of what i've read there says to use duplicolor automotive sprays and permagloss for a finish. never tried it however.

I did that to a blank about 3-4 years ago. I painted it black and went over the permagloss with steel wool to give it a matte finish. It's held up very well.
