Size A thread is the right size. If you use regular nylon, you have to use a Color Preserver if you want it to look like the color on the spool. Otherwise it will become transluscent-you will be able to see the guide feet through it and blank color will effect finished color. The other option is using NCP thread which will retain its color but is a little drab looking-no sparkle. I use a lot of Gudebrod thread but Fishhawk is good stuff, too.

The metallic threads will retain their color and do not need CP
Chris is surprisingly correct (hehe j/k Chris). Really, Chris is right on. I wouldnt recommend mettalic for a main wrap for your first build, it is a different animal than nylon. But if you do use mettalic use the Fishhawk brand, much better mettalic. Though I prefer gudebrod for nylon.
