    Spinnerbait rod

Here is my new spinnerbait rod.

St. Croix 5' 6" SCIII blank, Fuji alconite guides 8,7,6,6,6,6, spiral wrap, Fuji trimmed exposed reel seat, no foregrip, to be used for that underhanded flipcast.
The reel is a Pflueger Summit 7.1:1.

You dont see these types of rods much anymore, but I luv 'em.
Please let me know what you think. tks, pb.

Great job. You will love that rod! I have 6 pistol grip rods and I use them for a variety of baits, when a close cast it indicated.

    Thats SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETT!
One question, I have heard about not put on a front grip, BUT what are the benfits to leaving it off?
Got to have a pistol grip rod in the boat, they work great for throwing a jerkbait too.

    thanks fella's.

George, I have admired your work for years, in fact, since I began building.

    Paul,

the main reason is to reduce weight and increase sensitivity. The lighter you can make a rod, the more sensitive it will be. We as bass fishermen, always have our hand on the reel and reel seat, as opposed to a marlin fisherman, as one example, where you would hold that foregrip to pump that rod and fight that big boy.
So, in bass fishing, there is really no need to have a foregrip, it serves no purpose.

Also, when you have a rod with no foregrip, whether it is spinning or casting, this will allow you to place your index finger on the rod in front of the reel.......and buddy.......when you do that, you can feel every vibration.
In this case, I will really be able to feel those blades turn and detect the lightest bite.

    hope this helps.pb

    That helps!! Thanks
I have always use a exposed reel seat to get in contact with the rod. That is a great idea.
    Thanks again

    Hmmm?

A pistol grip spinnerbait rod. What blank did you use. I looked for a 5'6" but did see one that matched

    Nice job,
I carry a 6' pistol grip spinnerbait rod in the boat also. Built it on the 3C60MF

    Re: Spinnerbait rod (Bassn81)

the blank is St. Croix's 3c56mf and has been discontinued by St Croix. I've had it sitting in my shop for a year or so.

I'm fairly short, 5'10", and I like the 5'6" doing the little wrist cast off the front of the boat. I find that if I use a 6', I'll hit the water and dont have the control that I do with the 5'6".

Well I just might have to build one. Probab ly get a 6' mf blank and cut it down about 2 inches.
