I'm trying to powder coat jig heads and I always get the weed guard to hot and melt it. Is there a better way other than glueing the weed guards on?

You can use a piece of copper tubing or brake line and slip it over the weedguard to protect it from your heat source.
if you have the base pins for the mold use them when you pour and powder paint and bake jigs then take a drill and bit that is the same size as your weed guard and clean out the hole and then glue the weedguard in with epoxy
That is exactly how you do itAfter you pour and clean them, clean the weedguard hole with drill bit and insert pre clipped dowls (1/4"long) and put them in the oven for about 10 minutes, pull them out one at a time and hold over flame for 1-2 seconds, dip in the fluidbed/or jar, then remove the dowl immediatley and hang to dry. After about 5-10 min. bake them for 15-20 more min. When they cool, tie your jig then glue the weedguards in with epoxy

I have not found a "better"way, but I have used the copper tubing to protect and done it that way. they always turn out nicer when I glue mine in.

Is the epoxy very strong and do you have any problems with them coming out?

I use Devcon 2ton epoxy for mine, I check all of my weedguards to make sure they fit (epoxy sets fast) and then mix up the epoxy and can do about 20 jigs before it starts to get hard..
