I have a friend that is looking to buy a Ranger 521 with a 250 XS. Don't know anything about this engine. What is redline? How much horespower does it really make? Does it take Premium plus or Optimax oil? It has 325 hours as per the smartcraft. Are there any issues with these engines? Any help would be appreciated.
Recommended WOT RPM: 5500-5800. Rev limiter at 5900 RPM.
Premium Plus Oil. HIGH TEST FUEL REQUIRED.

Don: Might an Eric Simon ECU upgrade especially with that 5800 rev limiter make that motor totally bad arz
I would assume the 2003 would be about the same
I would expect "similar" results if it were done... although it would need to be "repropped" to gain any additional RPM's.
