    painting reels?

I see all of these awesome paint jobs on baits, do any of you ever paint baitcasting reels? I have an old green curado that most the paint is wore off and would love to get it painted. If anyone feels like giving it a go contact me please.

    Re: painting reels? (bigGUNS04)

I have a buddy that does reels as well as baits. Here are a few. The first two are Cabela's Prodigy reels and the last is a old green Curado. The curado was his first and he has since repainted it. He just want to see how the colors would work.

...Cool idea ....What clear does he cover them with??..and you would have to be careful of mating parts with a buildup of clear coat on them

Thats why I don't offer this type of painting. I don't want to mess up someone reel.
The only way I would paint one for a customer is if theyy took it apart and send the pieces they want painted. To many things can go wrong.

i have had to buy some high dollars baits when thing went wrong. I sure don't want to be buying reels.

Well I took matters into my own hands and painted my old curado. Its not the paint jobs that you see on here but I am happy for doing it with a rattle can. Here are some before and after pictures.

I tried putting a clear coat of epoxy but it was to thick so I sanded it down repainted and put a couple coats of clear lacquer. I figured I would fish with it this year and if it holds up I will repaint it next winter with a little more creative paint job.
