I was thinking of painting some lures for the 1st time. I will be using a air brush to do it. What kind of paint do you use?

I use lacquer. I think most of the guys use water based .
createx is good especially if your just starting. They are acrylics. Can get em on line, at hobby lobby, Michaels, etc
....Go to Wally-Mart or a craft store and get the cheepo Craft or Apple barrel brand acryilic paints...around .50 for 2oz compared to near $3.00 per 2oz for Createx,....You will need to thin it out a bit with water to the consistency of milk.....I would fart around with that till you get the feel for it..The top coat of epoxy, I like Devcon 2 ton, really finishes any paint job....Just my .03
wow, the only problem I have telling a newbie to use cheap craft paint is, that depending on the air brush quality, spraying the cheaper paints can be a challenge due to the size of the pigment particles and pearling in the paints. But to the point about learning, it is a way to learn brush control.
I would be more inclined to say buy better paints such as Createx, Auto Air and a few others that are paints designed for air brushs and just buy a sufficient amount of white and black to learn with.
Regardless experiment with what ever paint you use, varying air pressure and how thin/thick the paint is. And remember there are no mistakes, only happy errors.

Senkoman... thats the point I was making exactly without actually coming right out and saying it. I tried the cheapies first and had a real problem. Now that I'm a bit more familiar its not a prob anymore getting them thinned down etc
