    Need some jig pouring suggestions

I have been pouring my own jigs for 3-4 years and have never had this problem. Recently bought a do-it tip up jig mold w/ screw lock. Attempted to pour the first ones last night. The hook is not secure in the lead, not extremely bad but the hook does have a small amount of play in it. The screw lock is secured.

I poured 9 or 10 then quit. What the he.. am I doing or not doing?

    Thanks

You need to heat the mold up on top of the pot more and turn the lead temp up. Then put the pot's pouring nipple right into the mold opening... Inject the lead and it will fill it up solid for you.

I have an oven range hood with a light and exhaust fan. I put plywood on three sides only allowing fumes to get pulled from the open side where you work. Keep the hood as low as you can. I have the flex duct work going to a piece of plywood and copper pipe insulation on the edges fits tight into my basement window. Works great.

If I follow thorough with this Im gonn build it in my shed and pipe it out through the back wall..... I though about the oven range hood but wasnt shure if it would flow enough air to draw the fumes out and lead is nothing to play with.... I work with a fella that reloads and he uses one of those super duper floor fans..... but he melts down an ton of lead....

markm, the problem you might be having (hook loose inside the lead) might be caused by grabbing the completed jig by the hook to remove it from the mold. The hot, soft lead will bend slightly. Then when cooled it leaves play inside the lead head. Try removing the jig by grabbing the spru with pliers and removing it that way.

After looking up the jig you're pouring I'd say Mr. B hit it right on the head. Pull them out of the mold by the pouring sprue. There's not alot of lead on the bend with that style.
