    WHICH OIL TO USE??

i need to know what oil i should use in my 2005 225 optimax!! i just bought this boat about 1 month ago and the guy i got it from always used mercury oil.. well i am out of what he had left and no one close to me sells mercury oil.. wal mart is the only place the even sells oil close to me.. i went there last night and all they had was pennzoil marine 100% synthetic, quick silver premium plus, and johnson/evinrude.. that is it!! the only other place i could get anyother oil is about a hour away can someone tell which of these would be the best for my engine for the time being?? thanks

If you have a "standard" optimax and not an XS or Pro XS, the Premium plus will get you by. You should run Mercury QuickSilver DFI oil when you get the chance to purchase some elsewhere or order some over the internet.

Anglers Outpost in Nichlosville, ky. Sells both premium plus and opti oil in bulk. Just keep your old jugs and go over there and get a few filled up. Its much cheaper than wal mart also. They are also your best servicing dealer in the area.

The phone number there is 859-881-5266

So let m get this straight...I have an 09 250 PRO XS and I should be running the DFi Quicksilver? I'm pretty sure the dealer gavem me Merc Premium Plus to run. I have about 12 hrs on the motor by now.

    What about synthetic oil?

    Thanks

Fat Basser you are runnin the correct oil.

Premium Plus or Quicksilver Premium PLus in the XS or Pro XS

DFI oil in the regular Opti.

Yours is an Opti but not a regu;ar Opti...your is a Pro XS Opti.

    Simple eh.

If the letters XS appear after the horsepower designation... Premium Plus is the recommended oil.
