Who would be the best option to go with? Im looking for a custom rod designed specifically for throwing rattle traps/jerk baits for one of my new reels I just bought, and would like something custom made.

Hi Micheal,
Myself or any of the other BBC Custom Rod Sponsors can build you a rod. I have a few blank suggestions for rattle traps/jerkbaits. First is the Batson BS706, this is a glass blank that can pretty much handle anything. I have one build at 6'6" that I throw rattletraps and jerbaits on. This rod built with spiraled micro guides, custom formed carbon fiber handles grips and a split reelseat will give you a very light rod, especially for glass. There are a few other blanks that would fit your need. If you would like to discuss some options please feel free to email me at bassn81@comcast.net
BS706S. I have two of them and handle all moving baits very well

I'd highly recommend BBC sponsor George Roth at George's Custom Rods. He's built three rods for me and they are works of art.![]()

I have not used the Batson blank, so I can not comment on it. If Scott is using it, I'm sure that it is a fine blank. I have been building crankbait rods for a number of years with the Seeker, BS 706 S-glass blank. I fished a FLW Western Series tournament last year on the CA Delta, where I utilized this rod. I had a 3-4# fish hit the bait, right at the boat with about 6' of line out. The rod was flexible / powerful enough to keep the fish hooked up until my boater could get the net and scoop up the thrashing fish. It made me a believer, so I won't hesitate to recommend it to other anglers, especially if you fish tournaments.
Let me know if I can help......George
Batson blanks are excellent, i choose to use them quite often because they are great for the price and reliability. Very sensative rods to boot. i build custom rods and am a sponsor here on the board and i have plenty of customers that have tried the batson rods and they are awesome...really look into them if you decide on a custom rod![]()

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
I'm dumb, I meant to say Seeker BS706, I had Batson on the mind when I posted that. Sorry for the confusion.
The Seeker BS706 is an excellent rod. I have also built several of the Batson SPG E-glass rods, they work great and are a little lighter on the wallet.
I 've been leaning towards the Batson blanks lately & have had excellent results..go for it.
I'd offer to build also, but, after completing 4 this month,I'm still 5 behind...so I'll decline for now
